Do I need a permit to build a deck in Nassau or Suffolk County?

Yes — virtually all decks in Nassau and Suffolk County require a building permit, and many require a survey and elevation drawings. We handle all permits, plans, and inspections in-house so you don't have to navigate town hall on your own.

Composite or wood — which is better for Long Island?

Both work well here. Composite (Trex, TimberTech, etc.) is virtually maintenance-free and ideal for busy families. Real wood — cedar, mahogany, or ipe — costs less up front and has a warmth that synthetics can't quite match, but needs cleaning and refinishing every few years. How long does a deck project take?

A straightforward 400 sq. ft. deck usually takes 2–3 weeks of on-site work once permits are in hand. Resurfacing projects are faster — typically 5–10 days. Larger multi-level or wrap-around builds can run 4–6 weeks.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. Every Artisan Decks LI project includes a written workmanship warranty in addition to the manufacturer's warranty on materials. Composite deck boards typically carry a 25-year manufacturer warranty.
